strangeseeker asked: I LOVE your blog! I'm not getting married anytime soon, but I hope to one day have a fall wedding! Are you excited that it's so close?

YES! Excited but so, so busy! I feel kind of bad, I stopped using tumblr bc Pinterest was sooo much faster, ha. I’ll post pics after though! Thanks for the compliments :-)

Thanks, darlin’!

Anonymous asked: how did he propose?

He hid the ring in our Christmas tree, and I found it as we were decorating :-) I pulled it off the branch, and turned around - boom, there he was on one knee with a little speech prepared.

Wedding Decorations!

We just moved into our new house, so of course I’ve been busy decorating. Yesterday I went to Home Goods (there’s one in Pittsburgh finally!!!) and I found some goodies for both the house and the wedding.

We’re having a pie contest - or that’s the plan. I want to have people vote for their favorite pie (giving them a list of a few flavors) in the invite, and send that back as part of their RSVP. Then we’re going to display the pies, and give them 1st, 2nd, 3rd place blue ribbons. I was trying to find cake stands to put the pies on, and it’s harder than you’d think if you don’t want to spend 50 bucks on something you’ll never use again. This was $9.99 at Home Goods. I have a bunch of colored wicker baskets that I bought at Michael’s on clearance for $4 each that I’m flipping over and using for the rest of the pies.

The crystals made it a little more wedding-ish, I thought. I’m trying to find some sparkly or metallic things so our wedding doesn’t look completely like a garbage dump, ha.

Along those lines…

This dandy little mercury glass bird matches the mercury glass candlesticks that I bought at Target a few weeks ago. Pottery Barn had some amazing ones, for maybe $20 or $30 each. The most expensive one I bought at Target was $16. I only have four candlesticks, but I’m thinking that two will go on our sweetheart table, and two on the party table. Then this little guy…not really sure yet. I might put it inside the house instead of outside in the pavilion.

This isn’t really anything special, but I thought it was a pretty picture frame, haha. I don’t want to end up having clear, cheap plastic frames at our wedding to display our photos. But I also don’t want to spend a lot of money if I’m never going to use them.

All of the decorations I’ve been buying for my wedding are also being used in my house, or vice versa. I’m trying to be thrifty this way. A lot of the photo frames we’ll use at the wedding to display our photos will also hang in our house one day.

This plan has also kept me from getting too incredibly theme-y for my wedding. I super wanted a carnival wedding, but it was getting out of hand. Now it’s more like a country charm wedding, haha.
