I asked my dad if he could make us a trunk that’s heavy (too heavy to walk off with!), and also locks, for any cards we may receive on our wedding day. This is what he came up with!  It’s a trunk, with a real lock and key. Our names and wedding dates are engraved on a plate on the top that screws in. When you take the plate off, there’s a slot to put cards in. After the wedding, we can put the nameplate back, use it in our home for storage. It’s, indeed, a treasure chest (as in, I’ll always treasure it).

I want escort cards that can double as decorations. It may be overdone, but I’ve never been to a wedding that had pumpkin ones. I worry this could get a tad expensive though. So maybe…we’ll do favors, like candy apples/caramel apples, and cornbread, and just use those instead.

Yeah, I think those are my invites. In Raspberry.

The finished product! Template with bunting courtesy of WeddingChicks.com. The rest of the materials I got from Pat Catan’s, most of them being Martha Stewart crafts.

Just bought Sunday Funnies stamps to put on our engagement party invites. Yeah, so not traditional at all.

DIY invites from WeddingChicks Blog

I was just playing around, and I made these over on Wedding Chicks Blog - but they’re AWESOME.  We might do these for our engagement party, printing them ourselves.

Thumbprint Tree Guestbook

I’ve seen this on almost every single indie/vintage/crafty/country wedding blog I’ve come across. I LOVE the idea, and I’ve seen them being sold on Etsy, but honestly, I might just paint one myself.  We’re not really into traditional guestbooks…we’re more polaroids, lick em and stick em folk.  And once we get a house, and I have room for my studio…well, yes :-)

I think I’d rather hang something in our house that we created rather than have a guestbook album that sits on a shelf that we never open.

Here’s some of the photos of the inspiration trees:

I really like the birds. I have bird everything, but I’m trying to keep away from the Pigeon Lady, ala Home Alone 2.

Since we’re getting married in the fall, I think it’d be kinda neat to have fall colors for the ink.  At the same time, I think I’d rather have a black and white shaded tree with green leaves, in the long run, for our house.  Some of the ones I’ve seen with colored leaves are kinda awesome though.

The only problem…what if no one wants to do it? And we have a poor, dead, half naked tree? *sigh*
