I really super badly wanted colored glass vases, jars, wine goblets, etc. to put on my wedding tables instead of plain old vases (see the Water for Elephants inspired post or the mason jar flowers post).
I lucked out and found a bunch of blue mason jars, so I knew I had those, but I wanted other colors, too. Our linens will be plain white, with white dishes, so flowers and their containers are my only chance to add some color.
Yesterday, while we were walking through Wal*Mart to find props for our upcoming engagement shoot (yeah, I may have totally bought bubbles and pinwheels, don’t hate), I saw these AMAZING goblets out of the corner of my eye. I ran over and picked one up from the outdoor patio table it was on, and it was plastic! Even better, they won’t break in transport!
So I went back to the home section and bought 40 of these Better Homes and Garden plastic outdoor tumblers, wine glasses, and water goblets. They were $1.96 each - which makes me cringe (I spent 80 bucks on drinkware?!) but at the same time, I wasn’t going to find old carnival glass for that cheap, either. And this was much easier. And we can use them afterwards, too, where as with carnival glass, I would have sat it on a shelf to collect dust. (You like how I’m talking myself into the fact that it was ok to make a decision like this in half a second?)
Anywho, I set them up on my dining room table to gauge. Of course I’ll want flowers in them, and probably books or some other junk on the tables, too. We’re also using tin can lanterns as candle holders, so we’ll have the blue mason jars, the colored plastic glasses, and the metal cans. I’m liking the textures so far.
I’ll shut up now. :-)

I bought enough that each table should have one mason jar and either one pink or one orange tumblr:

Then accented by a wine glass or water goblet.

Not the best pics, but you get it.
